IELTS WRITING TASK 2: INTERNATIONAL TOURISM

We all know how amazing international tourism can be. It provides economic and cultural benefits to everyone, including travellers and local people, but today we’re gonna investigate another aspect of international tourism: NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES

Many people believe that international tourism is a bad thing for their country. What are the reasons? Solutions to change negative attitudes

WORDS TO REPLACE:

-International tourism = Mass tourism = Global tourism

-Country = nation = destination ©

-People = local people/ residents

REASONS???

• Travellers do not respect places of interests/ tourist sites

• Why? They think it is not their responsibilities to protect and preserve the beauty of these areas

• Result: have disrespectful behaviours like littering or drawing on the wall

• E.g: Notre-dame Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh city is full of travellers’ signatures

• Visitors - bring different cultures into countries → spoil the traditional ones

• E.g. Western people who do not visit pagodas as regularly as ASIAN people → might wear inappropriate clothes to these spiritual places

SOLUTIONS???

• Governments - introduce laws to clampdown on certain behaviors

• E.g. introduce severe fines on those who dispose of trash improperly

• Travel agents - educate their clients/ customers about indigenous practices before visiting places like historic sites or religious areas → Visitors would be more aware of costumes they wear or and their conduct
