You have to do this to understand history passages in SAT
As international students, we're not familiar with US histories, hence not understanding history passages. But once we could understand what it talks about - its main message, we could easily complete our passages with correct answers. After months of not knowing about this, I finally found a way.
Step 1: Get into this site and you'll see historical names.
Step 2: Take these names and search on youtube
Step 3: Watch short videos about them
Eventually, you'll grasp quick comprehension of what was going on in the past with common issues such as women's rights or abolitionism.
Believe me, this would help you tremendously with your SAT :)
